NEW FEATURE: QR Code Sign In

MediaZilla members and their viewers can now sign in on TV devices using a QR code.

MediaZilla members and their viewers can now sign in on TV devices using a QR code.

We are excited to announce our latest feature release: QR Code Sign in!

We know the digital delivery experience is critical to you and your clients. From the moment clients receive an invitation, it’s a smooth experience up until they have to enter a long email address and password with an onscreen keyboard using a TV-remote.

The solution is here: an easy-to-use QR code allows yourself and clients to sign in on different TV devices without relying on the dreaded TV-remote keyboard.

What Are QR Codes?

As of last month, nearly 50% of all restaurants in the United States ditched physical menus for QR code menus. QR codes have also been around on apps like Snapchat since 2015.

A quick response code, or QR code, is a type of barcode that can be scanned via camera by most smartphones to redirect users to a designated page.

How This Feature Affects You & Clients

To save you and your viewers time and frustration on accessing your account on a TV device, we’ve rolled out QR codes. Allow us to demonstrate the impact of this feature with a very scientific diagram:

Ultimately, clients will end up watching your projects just about anywhere and expect to be able to do so with minimal effort.

Imagine this: your client receives the delivery email you sent. They take possession of the project and sit down to enjoy it on their TV. Next, they are faced with a login screen and a dinky little remote. That seamless delivery may now be in shambles as your client spends the better half of an hour typing out their credentials. What’s that? They misspelled their email address. Take it from the top.

Your viewers’ experience is of utmost importance to us here at MediaZilla, so we’re extra excited to release this feature. We’re also saving the lives of countless remotes and drywall.

How To Use This Feature

When you're first signing in on a TV device, let's say an Apple TV, you will be greeted with a screen as pictured below (codes will vary):

This screen will only appear when you're activating a new device or signing back in. It's also important to note, the QR code will refresh upon signing out of your account or restarting the app.

Using a QR code to sign in is as simple as: pulling out your phone, opening your camera app and pointing it at the QR code as it appears on the screen. You will then be prompted to launch a link in a browser.

Once the link is opened, you will be given the option to authorize the device you're using to add it to your MediaZilla account. After activating, you will now see your library instantly load onto the TV. Finally, and most importantly, sit back and enjoy that MediaZilla experience you and your clients are eagerly waiting for.

What If No Phone Is Available

If you or your viewers don’t have a phone available, or are unsure about scanning a QR code, they can simply follow the instructions on the screen (below the QR code) to activate the new device by going to mediazilla.com/activate

Manual sign-ins using login credentials via TV remote are also still available. Just go easy on that remote!

What’s In The Pipeline

It’s no secret that our team thrives on member feedback, so SquadZilla shouldn’t be too surprised at the suite of new features we’re getting ready to release. Without revealing too much, this platform is about to get a whole lot bigger. 🙊

Additionally, we are currently in the process of expanding our team with a handful of new minds. Such openings will continue to be shared across our social media channels.

As always, if you have any questions or feedback please reach us at support@mediazilla.com
